Good Intentions? Ridgerunners share about leaving trail magic

Hello! In these times where are natural needs and gifts are threatened by greed and fear I must do what I can to protect these necessary parts of the natural world. Things like clean water and air are basic ingredients of life, which if not protected, we, and those around us will definitely feel the effect of limited water supplies and pollutions.

So, when I am out hiking or backpacking, I can be an example of the solution or the problem. The choice is mine. Over the years I have hauled out lots of trash from the backcountry, including a double bed mattress I found once some 2 miles up a trail in the GSMNP. The following article is from the ATC, and includes some suggestions from ridgerunners have regarding purposely leaving "trail magic".

And, I would add, though this article is primarily about magic on the AT and vicinity, that these suggestions apply everywhere I hike. Thanks for your interest.
